Literature

I do enjoy a good book! Lately, I have been reading a series call The Luxe, written by Anna Godbersen. I am currently on the third book of the series, Envy.

Here is a short little description of the series from the website:

"THE LUXE IS . . .
Pretty girls in pretty dresses, partying until dawn.
Irresistible boys with mischievous smiles and dangerous intentions.
White lies, dark secrets, and scandalous hookups.
This is Manhattan in 1899."

Sounded good to me... :) I would highly recommend this series, based on my reading of the first three novels, anyways. If you are interested, these will likely be found in the young adult area of the library or bookstore.

Gosh, these books are lovely to display on my bookshelves, too! Here is where I admit something... Often times I tend to "judge a book by its cover" in the most literal sense. Obviously the cover is meant to be the first attractor, right? So if a book has a beautiful cover, I am drawn to it. Interesting titles attract me, as well. Then, of course, I will read the back cover, or the inside of the dust jacket, or wherever the summary of the story may be. That is always my main deciding factor in whether or not I will pursue the story further. Regardless of how beautiful the cover is, if the story is completely uninteresting there is no way I will force myself to read it.

Please do let me know if you decide to read any of these books, or if you have any other suggestions to share!

ETA: Nearly forgot to add a quote for this post! Since I am talking about what I am reading, I decided it would be appropriate to use a quote from the book...

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that there will always be a gentleman to dance with, except at just the moment when you require one most."

I found your blog through Ravelry and it's really pretty.
I've never read it, but it sounds interesting!

Happy this year!
